Statement

From direct, urban, almost punk foundations, Bielik's
recent work has moved towards a more subtle and refined aesthetic. Brash combinations of found materials and industrial paints have given way to
calculated mark making and a more sophisticated use of colour.
These messy, graphic oil paintings retain the energy
of the earlier work but the literal and emotional
darkness, so explicit before, has become implicit,
a subtle undercurrent.
